Maria (name changed) was born and raised in her beloved Dnipro city, got a job there, started a family, raised children. Before the beginning of the war, she, like millions of others, would not have thought that she would receive the status of an internally displaced person and leave her hometown. Now Maria is in Lviv and every day, like the whole of Ukraine, she is waiting for news about the Victory in order to return home.
In April, when the situation escalated from the Donetsk region, the woman realized that she did not want to wait for an aggravation. The children promised to take her to relatives, but refused to stay there – they saw themselves only at home, in territorial defense. As a client of a substitution therapy site, Maria decided to find out before the trip how the situation with the therapy in other cities is. She asked in the ST group in Ukraine who has the latest information and got the #HelpNow contacts. The woman turned to the service for help and received valid addresses of medical centers. Leaving Dnipro city, Maria took a medical statement from her doctor and therapy for ten days. The woman planned to stay with relatives in Chernivtsi, but found out that other family members were already there. She didn’t want to be a burden, so decided to go to Lviv. She sent a new request for medical centers again on #HelpNow and got a new data. Having reached the city, Maria went to the address received. She met with a narcologist, doctor listened her attentively and asked to bring additionally a certificate of registration in Lviv as an internally displaced person. Having collected the full package, Maria immediately received the first therapy.
“The doctor first issued an ST for three days, and then she said that it would be, as before, for a week. A very nice, friendly woman, attentive, explained, showed where the cabinet is located. Thank her so much! I’m so glad everything went smoothly. If not for your service, I would not have found what I needed so quickly.”
