We are opening the section #HelpNowrescued. These are stories of Ukrainians who were helped by the service to receive vital medicines abroad.
Elena (not her real name) took ARV therapy for a long time in her town in Ukraine, and could not imagine that one day she would have to flee the war, leaving everything behind. In early March, she set up in Poland, a small town in the west of the country – Ośno Lubuskie. There was critically little therapy left, Elena began to look through her contacts for information on where to get medicines.
“I got information about the #HelpNow service from a consultant … from Berlin – when he heard, that I was in Poland, he sent a link to the website of the leading organization in Germany that provides assistance to HIV-positive people, where yours one was listed as a partner service for Ukrainians. I chose Instagram as my channel of communication with #HelpNow and was quickly sent information, with a list of addresses in Poland. I found the nearest city (it turned out to be Poznan), called the indicated phone number, agreed and went there.»
According to Elena, having arrived at the Poznan railway station, she turned to the police for help and was amazed by their goodwill: “Cool guys, they took me to the hospital themselves!” The doctor also turned out to be extremely attentive, accompanying the girl everywhere so that she would not get lost. A medical check was carried out immediately on the spot, a blood test was taken, a personal card was entered and therapy was given to Elena for three months (Tivicay and Emtricitabine + Tenofovir).
“The address in Poznan has been verified personally! Thank you for your real help!”
