Leonid (the name was changed) was born in Korosten (Zhytomyr Region), but moved to Kyiv as a teenager, lived there for 13 years, and then moved to Zaporizhzhia. He had a job, was on the site of substitution therapy, but… the war placed its accents in the peaceful existence of people. With the beginning of hostilities, Leonid decided to leave. Together with his aunt and grandmother, they headed towards the border to get to Bulgaria (they chose it), but the man was not able to cross it – the alimony debt was not paid, which he found out only there. The women left, and he himself was forced to return. Leonid went to Odessa, where there were relatives, but it was not possible to stay with them for a long time.
“My mother lives in the USA, in Chicago. She was told that there is a program to help refugees from Ukraine, and after some time I managed to leave.”
It seemed that everything turned out as it should, but hundreds of questions immediately arose in the new place, first and foremost – how and where to receive therapy. Leonid began to “Google” information and came across the contacts of the service.
“I wrote to you on HelpNow, your managers sent me the address and contacts of the medical center. I went there, told about the situation, and I was immediately scheduled to see a doctor. What I can note is that there is a lot of bureaucracy, especially in filling out documents. But this is their system, that’s how everything works. However, everything else is great, the attitude is excellent. We speak with the doctor through an online translator, the staff behaves humanely and cares for their patients. I’ve already been tested, examined, and treated. Fast, really. Thanks to the managers of your service for this work!”
